Tammie L. Cherry, 47, of Washington, died and went home to her Lord on October 25, 2022, in Washington Hospital. The sun rose and the world welcomed Tammie on August 17, 1975, a day the world became a little brighter. Tammie’s life of adventure was just beginning but she lived a full and warm life, filled with joy every moment that she was with her loved ones. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Tammie attended Washington High School. She worked as an accountant, but also spent her life as a devoted and loving caregiver to her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her precious grandchildren. She also enjoyed darts and playing bingo, as well as crafts. Tammie was a member of The Bible Chapel in Washington. On August 15, 2021, the best day of their lives, Tammie married her husband, Ernest McDaniel, whom she loved dearly. Tammie is survived by her husband Ernest McDaniel; parents Christine McClain Collier and Ronald Ellis; siblings, Ronnie Green, Nicole Matthews, Jammie Collier, David Jackson, Arnette Anderson, April McClain, Ronald Ellis Jr., Shaye Taylor, Sharita Taylor, Earl Ellis, Wilco McClain, and Jacquelyn Ellis; her children, Tanaia Gardener, Thomas Cherry, and Tejai Cherry; as well as her six grandchildren, Te’lahje and Sha-mia Walters, Ta’Shaun Cherry, Thomas Cherry III, Tamaurii Cherry, and Zhavia Cherry; A grandchild on the way, Kyrie Cherry; and a host of family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nelson Thomas, Brian Swanson, and grandparents Mary Louise McClain, and Judith and LB Ellis. Family and friends will be received Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., the time of her funeral service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Reverend Nichole Darby officiating.
