Steve J. Lassan, Jr., 78, of Washington, died on June 25, 2021, in the Washington Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1942, in Garfield Heights, OH, a son of the late Steve J. Lassan, Sr., and Helen Leffler Lassan. A graduate of Garfield Heights High School, Steve went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Hiram College, in Hiram, OH, and his Master’s degree from Syracuse University. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Washington, PA., where he was very involved. Mr. Lassan was a mathematics professor at Allegheny College and at Washington and Jefferson College, prior to working as a computer analyst for U.S. Steel, where he worked until his retirement in 2005. Steve enjoyed golfing, gardening, good food and desserts, spending time outdoors, and watching all sports. While in college, he played for the basketball and baseball teams. Above all, Steve loved his family, and treasured his time spent with them, and being involved in his church. On March 22, 1969, he married the love of his life, Doreen A. Bartch, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Janet A. (Johannes Elwardt) Lassan, of Berlin, Germany, and Gregg A. (Julie) Lassan, of South Lyon, MI; a sister, Evelyn (Tom) Manson, of Garfield Heights, OH; a brother-in-law, Richard (Ilona) Bartch, of Strongsville, OH; five grandchildren, Luke, Hannah, Anna, David, and Leia; and four nephews, Tom Manson, John Manson, Dave Bartch, and Bryan Bartch. All services were private, and held at the convenience of the family. Online guestbook is available at www.NealFuneralHome.com.
