Richard “Dick” McCann, 90, of Washington, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born October 17, 1932, in Greene County, a son of the late Newton and Mary Williamson. Richard graduated from Washington High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Nancy. He served in the United States Army, during the Korean War, and was a member of the Army baseball team. Richard was a Controller for Picker X-Ray Corporation, prior to owning a Montgomery Ward store in Washington, which later became McCann Sales. Most recently, he was a realtor for multiple real estate agencies in the Washington Area, and worked part-time at the state liquor store until he was 80 years old. He was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church for many years. Richard, known as “Pap Pap,” to his grandchildren, was a kind and gentle man, who loved spending time with his family more than anything in life. He especially enjoyed yearly family trips to Myrtle Beach and golfing on Thursdays in the summer with his golf league. He is survived by the love of his life, Nancy Brownlee McCann, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Lynn Ware of Washington; grandchildren, Kristin (Jose) Ramirez, and Lauren Ware; great-grandchildren, Lucas Ramirez, and Ryleigh Moore; sisters, Linda Peffer and Marilyn (the late Thomas) Jones; nephews, Matthew (Liz) Peffer and Conrad Peffer, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Gregory McCann and Richard “Rick” McCann, and a brother, Samuel Williamson. At the request of the deceased, all services were private.
