Norma Jean Gower, born April 12, 1933, passed away on February 17, 2023. Born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to Archie and Grace Kinder, she grew up in Malden and graduated from Centerville High School and Penn Commercial Business School. She married Wendel Gower on June 2, 1957, who predeceased her. Norma Jean worked for Mellon Bank in Washington, was the wife of partnering founder of GG and C Bus Company, and a Shaklee Nutrition Distributor. Additionally, she was an active member and past President of United Methodist Women at Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church in Washington. Mrs. Gower liked to travel to Myrtle Beach, Sedonia, Hawaii and New England. She was passionate about her grandchildren’s sports and dance performances, the Steelers, Penn State, and the Pirates. She was a wife, mother of 4, grandmother of 7, and great-grandmother of 1. Surviving are her children, Jill Morrow, Todd Gower, Robert Gower (S. Denielle Gower), and Wendy Briant (Wyatt Briant); grandchildren, Jaclyn Coddington (David Coddington), Erin Swann (John Swann), Lindsey Briant, Shaylyn Gower, Garrett Briant, Drake Gower, Dawson Briant; and great-grandson, Ryder Coddington. Additionally, she has a brother, Allan Kinder, and a sister, Audrey Simpson, as well as several nieces and nephews who survive. A brother, Archie Kinder, Jr., and a sister, Eileen Meadows, are deceased. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 21st, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 22nd. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
