John Russel Renz, 69, of Washington, died on April 25, 2022, in Washington Hospital. He was born on February 9, 1953, in Washington, a son of Glen and Dorothy Renz. Airman Renz served in the United States Air Force with the 809th Supply Squad, Strategic Air Command, from February 17, 1971 until September 20, 1971. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Renz had worked at Gee Bee Department Store. He enjoyed anything that involved spending time outdoors, and enjoyed tinkering with tractors and lawnmowers. A fantastic storyteller, John was in the process of writing a book. He loved making people laugh, and had quite an engaging sense of humor. John adored his family and friends, and loved every moment he spent with them. On June 23, 2001, he married Patsy Long, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Harold Hetzel, Jr., of Washington, and Faron Hetzel, of Washington; six daughters, Jennifer Renz, of Iowa, Natasha Wheeler, of Washington, Alyssa Renz, of Texas, Lee Etta Stewart, of Washington, Patricia (Mark) Hatfield, of Washington, and Amoret (Herby) Grantz, of Washington; three sisters, Shelly Catron, of Washington, Joan Naylor, of Washington, and Sussie Stewart, of Bridgeville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Tom, Buck, Glen and Donald Renz; and a sister, Nadine Byers. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or services.
