Jane Ann Spence

June 20, 1947 — February 28, 2021

Surrounded by dedicated and caring Hospice staff, Jane Ann (Greco) Spence, 73, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021. She had been a resident of Hawthorne Woods, Washington, for several years. “Janie,” as she was known to family and friends was born June 20, 1947, to Carmine and Martha Sim Greco in Washington, PA. Janie was the first to admit her devoted older brother, Jimmy, loved to spoil his little sister. Janie graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1965 and later finished training to begin a career as a professional hair stylist. Janie loved her clients, and they loved her. The bulk of her 30-year career was spent working at the Presbyterian Home. Illness forced Janie into retirement, but she never forgot her clients and precious friendships made over the years. In her spare time, Janie loved to read and do crafting projects, especially designing seasonal wreaths for friends and family. She had such a happy, giving nature, sharing what she could and helping others when possible. Janie was a member of The Christian Church of North America. Janie’s parents and brother preceded her in death. She is survived by her former spouse, J. Albert Spence and their son, Scott Spence, Aunt Ree (Sim) Nichols, Aunt Alma Sim, Uncle Joe Gizoni, sister-in-law Cherrie Greco and nephews Skyler and Aaron Greco, plus a host of cousins and friends. She is also survived by her life-long “Best Friend Forever,” Joanne Zelensky. During Janie’s declining years, Joanne served as chauffeur, nurse, private shopper, spiritual guide and loving jokester, a loyal friend who helped Jane navigate through both joyful and challenging times. Memorial donations in Jane Spence’s name may be made to Gateway Hospice, 95 West Beau Street, Suite 510, Washington, PA 15301. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021, in the Washington Cemetery.
