Geneva Wilkinson

October 19, 1925 — November 30, 2017

Geneva Wilkinson, 92, of Washington, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, in Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born October 19, 1925, in Williamson, West Virginia, a daughter of Merritt M. Cook and Lydia Belle Payne Cook. Mrs. Wilkinson graduated from Trinity High School and the Neurological Technology School of Allegheny General Hospital. During World War II, she worked at the Harbor in Baltimore building Liberty Ships.  Once back in Washington, she worked at Hazel Atlas before working in the neurology departments at Allegheny General Hospital and Wheeling Hospital. Mrs. Wilkinson was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship where she was a worship leader.  In addition, she was a worship leader with Women’s Aglow, Tibbs Prayer Group of Mt. Lebanon, Pacesetters, and Immaculate Conception Midweek Prayer Group. Deceased are her husband, S. Dean “Wilkie” Wilkinson, who died August 23, 2001; stepchildren, Jeffrey Wilkinson and Joyce Swan; and siblings, Auburn Kennedy, Rev. Emory Kennedy, Ernest Kennedy, Alice Mitchell, Norma Kuhn, June Walsh, Vernie Morris and Alma Plants. Surviving are three children, Kathleen B. (Jim) McMillen of Edgewood, Maryland, Rusty (Judy) Roach of Washington and Rev. Dr. Michael A. (June) Roach of Washington; two stepchildren, Clyde Wilkinson and Samuel (Shonda) Wilkinson, both of Washington; son-in-law, Joe Swan of Washington; sister, Eunice Carter of Washington; 12 grandchildren, Veda Harris of North Canton, Ohio, Heather (Shawn) Buckels of West Alexander, Michaela (Chris) Baker of Clinton, Mississippi, Matthew Roach of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Nicole (Jim) Conley of McMurray, Joseph (Carrie) Swann III, of West Alexander, Samantha Wilkinson of Washington, Heather (Bryan) Baker of Mount Airy, Maryland, Shane (Jessica) Wilkinson of Washington, Christy Toland of Washington, Brent Steele of Washington, and James McMillen of Maryland; 26 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, December 10th, in Trinity Bible Fellowship, 1350 Park Ave., Washington, PA. Private family burial was held in Washington Cemetery.
