Cynthia Ann “Cindy” McCarrell, 64, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2018, in the Washington Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born on October 23, 1954, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Sidney Alexander and Florence Kohlmyer Davis. A graduate of Upper St. Clair High School, she attained a Bachelor’s degree at Edinboro University, and a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Mrs. McCarrell was a devoted member of the Church of the Covenant. She was a dedicated teacher at the Washington Park Elementary School. Throughout her 35 years as a teacher and IST Coordinator, she touched the lives of countless students and faculty. Cindy enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends and family and spending her time outdoors. She was an avid sports fan, and especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. On June 21, 1980, she married Wallace A. “Wally” McCarrell, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Leslie A. (Eric) Zito, of Arlington, VA, Andrew W. McCarrell, of Washington, and Michelle L. McCarrell, of Washington; two sisters, Cheryl (John) Christopher, of Boston, MA and Carolyn Davis, of Pittsburgh; a grandson, Brooks Davis Zito; and cherished family and friends. Friends will be received on Monday, November 5, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Additional visitation will be held in the Church of the Covenant, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., at the time of services, with Rev. Dr. Stuart Broberg officiating.
