Betty Jane Weaver, 91 formerly of “Pancake” (Laboratory) and Strabane Trails Village, UPMC Senior Community of Washington, passed away peacefully with family members by her side on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Premier Health Center, where she had been in declining health for the past six months. She was born February 8, 1927, in Atlasburg, the daughter of the late William S. and Edith A. Baldwin. Betty Jane was a 1946 graduate of the old Hickory High School. She was the longest living member of the Laboratory Presbyterian Church, where she was a 60 + year member of the adult choir. A very devoted and active deacon, she also taught Sunday School and was a Vacation Bible School director and a Girl Scout Leader. Until retiring in 1998, she was a Dietary Manager for the Trinity Area School District at the Windsor and Laboratory Elementary Schools. On June 6, 1947, she married Clarence McCoy Weaver, who died October 23, 2002. While together they enjoyed many years of camping, going out to eat after church at different dining locations, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Surviving are her two children, The Rev. Dr. William C. (Suzan) Weaver of Linden, NJ and Colleen (David) Dille formerly of Prosperity and now residing in Washington; four grandchildren, Tara (Walter) Durr of South Beaver, Tammy (Ken) Varner of Washington, Janelle (Mark) Foster, Patrick “James” (Gira) Weaver both of New Jersey. She was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren, Brian and David Gottschalk, Kaylynn Varner, Samantha and Charlize Foster, Cecily Weaver, Natosha Durr, Courtney (Michael) Geruschat, Rachel and Jacob Foster; and two great-great grandchildren, Alianna Durr and Emma Geruschat. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a sister, Aldine Parry. Friends will be received Monday, November 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. the time of service at Laboratory Presbyterian Church, 23 Manse Street, Washington with Rev. Donna Christopher and Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
