Betty W. Hodgens, 85, of Washington, died December 1, 2023, in her home. She was born October 17, 1938, a daughter of the late Lindsey and Thelma Waychoff, of Buffalo Village. Mrs. Hodgens was employed by Teamsters Local 585 for twenty-five years. She was the President of T.C.W.H. #585 Credit Union for eighteen years. She volunteered at Washington Hospital, and for a short time, was on the Hospital Auxiliary Board. Mrs. Hodgens was twice married. She is survived by two sons, Daniel John (Cathy), of Charleston, SC, and Thomas John (Melissa), of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Aileen Chivers (James), of Washington; grandchildren, Kristina, Derek, Courtney, Sandra, Bryant, Addison, and Hannah; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Stein (Jerry), of Washington. In September 1978, she married Robert V. Hodgens, who passed away in 2021. Surviving are the following stepchildren, Michelle Gipe (Randy), of Hershey, Robert Hodgens, of Detroit, MI, Kathy Godwin (Craig), of Ft. Pierce, FL; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Waychoff and Ralph Waychoff. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to be sent to St Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or City Mission, 84 W. Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, December 5, 2023, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the service on Wednesday, December 6th at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
