Arthur William Howard

Arthur W. “Bill” Howard, Jr., of Washington, passed away December 20, 2021. Bill was the son of the late Arthur W. Howard Sr. and Lela Camp Howard, born June 7, 1944, in Washington. He graduated from Washington High School, class of 1962. On September 16, 1967, he married Charlotte E. Bernotas, who survives. They celebrated over 54 years of marriage. Also surviving are three daughters, Michele (Mark) Olsen, of Avella, Richele (Sean) Davis, and Lori (Travis)Brooks, of Virginia; grandchildren, Mitchell and Morgan Olsen, Cameron, Carson and Chloe Davis, T.J., Billy, and Jack Brooks: sister, Peggy (Richard) Slack; sister-in-law, Alicia Howard; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Sue Bernotas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Deceased is a brother, Paul “Bob” Howard, and a sister who died in infancy. Bill and his wife, Charlotte, owned and operated Bill’s Furniture in Washington for close to 60 years. He loved camping, and relaxing on his boat, deep sea fishing at the Outer Banks. Mostly, Bill enjoyed being around his family and friends. He was a member of the National Duncan Glass Society for many years. Bill loved to search for and buy Duncan glass at flea markets and antique shops and sell at the annual glass show. He served in the Army National Guard, Company 408th, General Supply Company, and Honorably discharged February 20, 1971. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 1-3 pm and 5-6 pm., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
