Janet Elinor Creighton Gabrielson, 58, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the Donnell House.
She was born December 18, 1950, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a daughter of Richard Creighton, and the late Mary Aldrich Creighton.
My wife, my best friend, my light when it was dark; mother, and shining star for our children, Morgan Gabrielson, of Chicago, and Darith Gabrielson, of Washington. A full-time sister to Amy Mokricky, of Mt. Lebanon; Nancy Creighton, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; Richard Bruce Creighton, of Pittsburgh; and the late Susan “Jill” Creighton.
An advocate for the homeless in our country, she was very active in the Interfaith Hospitality Network. She was an avid reader.
She made magic for every meal. Janet made our home light up for everyone who came into it. I will most miss coming home, when she would say, “yea, you are home,” and I would say, “glad to be here.” I will always remember her as I first saw her, looking over her shoulder, smiling at me, with the sun glowing through her hair. I love you Janet, your husband, Rex.
Rex and Janet were married on July 3, 1971.
At the request of the deceased, services and interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to The Interfaith Hospitality Network; 297 E Beau St., Washington, PA 15301.
William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, is in charge of arrangements.
