Garnet Ann Beech, 80, of McMurray, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 13, 2008, in her home.
She was born in Baldwin on December 2, 1928, a daughter of William and Phyllis Faust Feldman and was a graduate of Baldwin High School.
Mrs. Beech was a long time member of the Library Baptist Church and had served the church in many ways through the years and had been responsible for the creation and printing of the church bulletin and special notices.
For about ten years, she had worked as a writer for the Advertiser Newspaper. She later worked as a teacher at the South Hills Christian School from the mid 1970�s through to her retirement.
She enjoyed crafting, quilting, and sewing. She was a member of the Friends of Greater Canonsburg Library.
In 1949, she married Robert C. Lanz who died in 1965. On October 18, 1975, she married Raymond G. Beech who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Robert C. ( Michelle ) Lanz, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Thomas W. Lanz of Houston, PA, Christopher J. Lanz of Eighty-Four, Jay A. ( Lynn ) Lanz of Johnson City, New York, and Joel E. ( Pam ) Lanz of Appalachian, New York; four daughters, Barbara A. Lanz of Brandon, Florida, Mary Beth Kerr of Columbus, Ohio, Patricia J. ( David ) Shepley of Upper St. Clair, and Joan E. ( Mark ) Angus of Gahanna, Ohio; and three step-children, Michael A. Beech of Scenery Hill, Kathleen E. Barone of Taylorstown, and Karen A. Criss of Canonsburg; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a brother William Feldman and two sisters, Betty Jane Miller and Barbara Deguffray.
Friends of Garnet Ann Beech, 80, of McMurray, who died Saturday, December 13, 2008, will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM, and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 AM , the time of services, in the Library Baptist Church, 81 Walter Long Road, Finleyville, PA, Pastor John Arnold officiating. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to; Washington City Mission, Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301, or Greater Canonsburg Library, 68 E. Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
