Josephine E. Bednarski, 85, of Washington, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, in the Washington Hospital. She had been in declining health.
She was born March 10, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of Jacob and Hazel Uniejewski Bredniak.
Mrs. Bednarski was a member of Holy Trinity Church, where she was involved with the Ladies Auxiliary and pierogie sales. She played dart ball for the Polish Club and was a former league treasurer.
For five years she had worked at Bobbie Brooks as material cutter.
Mrs. Bednarski enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On August 25, 1945, she married Walter M. Bednarski, who died August 3, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Bednarski and wife Becky and John E. Bednarski and wife Dawn; a daughter, Denise Morris and her husband Dewey R., all of Washington; six grandchildren, Kevin and Neil Bednarski, Dustin and Desiree Morris, Shelly Farahani and Lesa Scalise; and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Edmond Bredniak, who died August 15, 2009, and Theodore Bredniak, who died in World War II.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20th, in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, with Bishop John Mack as celebrant.
