Alexandria “ Alkie “ Elias, 86, of Washington, died Monday, March 1, 2004 in the Donnell House following a short illness. She was born in Waynesburg on November 12, 1917, a daughter of Tufick and Sadie Sliman Tannous. Mrs. Elias was a graduate of Washington High School and had attended Robert Morris Business School. She worked as a Book Keeper for Jessop Steel Corporation for forty-five years and also for Suwak trucking.
On February 12, 1939 she married Nasime “ Bill “ Elias who survives. Also surviving are three sons, James Elias, Boise, Idaho, Robert and William Elias, both of Washington; two daughters, Sandra Harton of Washington and Sherren Pensiero of Somerset; three sisters, Julia Wolfe of Glen Mills, Virginia Ascosi of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Mary Lewis of Lewistown; Four step-brothers, James, William, Harry, and Allenby Lewis; seven grandchildren, Damon and Holly Elias, Paul Harton, Jr., Lisa and Tara Pensiero, and Dedra Rantovich, Alycia Ringer; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are a brother Tony Thomas , a sister Isabel Thomas; two step-brothers, Libbus and Alfred Lewis; and a step-sister, Mary Paulekas.
Friends of Alexandria “ Alkie “ Elias, who died on Monday, March 1, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 11:00 AM, Rev. Floyd Marasco officiating. Entombment will follow in the Washington Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.
