WWII veteran, member of St. Hilary Church
Frank Rock, 77, of Washington, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2003, in Manchester, N.H., following a five-week illness.
He was born September 26, 1926, in Canonsburg, a son of Joe and Anna Martino.
Mr. Rock was a member of St. Hilary Church in Washington.
He was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and an electrical inspector for Craft Machine.
Mr. Rock served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving a Victory Medal, American Campaign ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern ribbon, Presidential Unit citation with a blue star and Asiatic-Pacific ribbon.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, Washington.
On September 25, 1948, he married Elizabeth Mary (Betty) Machacek, who died September 11, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Frank J. Rock of Hilton, N.Y., and Thomas A. Rock of Manchester; two daughters, Joanne Jones and Carol Haines, both of Washington; a brother, Paul Rock of Boulder, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Donald, Joel, and Bryon Parrish, Darren Jones, Curtis Gregg, Brooke and Beth Haines and Thomas Rock; and ten great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, Robert Gregg; and a sister, Helen Martin.
ROCK - Friends of Frank Rock of Washington, who died Sunday, December 7, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, December 12, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas D. O'Neil as celebrant. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
