Melvin Ellis, 56, of Washington, died January 3, 2008, in his residence, following a two-year illness.
He was born September 14, 1951, in Washington, a son of John and Carrie Harper Ellis.
Mr. Ellis worked as a supervisor for Dart Warehouse for eight years.
Surviving are his companion of 21 years, Sonya Paith; six sons, Melvin Dungee of Pittsburgh, Michael Brown of the state of California, Divonnie Ellis of Michigan, Melvin F. Wilson of the state of Washington, Ronnie Paith and Charles Paith, both of Washington; five daughters, Michele Ellis and Jacqlyn Ellis, both of Washington, Marsha Ellis of Michigan, Cindy Ellis and Ashley Paith, both of Washington; four brothers, Edgar “Punkin” Ellis of Washington, George Ellis of Michigan, Red Ellis of Michigan and Prince Ellis of Ohio; four sisters, Francis Gardner and Sandra Johnson, both of Washington, Dreama Ellis and Norma Ellis; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are three brothers, Dean, Whistle and Frank Ellis.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, with Pastor William Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
