Dr. Paul Calvin Snoke, V.M.D.

Dr. Paul Calvin Snoke, 86, of Washington, died at home after a lingering illness, on Thursday, April 15, 2004. He was born on June 16, 1917, a son of Dr. Charles Edward and Helen Uhrich Snoke, at Pigeon Creek. He was a 1935 graduate of Washington High School, active in athletics and traveled to the World’s State Fair in Chicago with the All-State Band, a 1939 graduate of W&J College. Dr. Snoke was a 1951 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Veterinary Medicine. He had a long career in large and small animal veterinary work, retiring in 1995. He served with the 13th Army Air Force during World War II. On October 16, 1953 he married Romaine Brownlee, who died in 1995. Surviving are two sons, Howard Paul Snoke of Avella, PA and Donald Lee Snoke of Washington, PA; a sister, Margaret “Peg” Brown of Alpine, WY; 5 grandchildren, Brian, Philip, Stephen, Amanda and Jennifer Snoke. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Donald Snoke; and 3 sisters, Josephine Craft, Jean Fisher and Helen Strait. Friends of Dr. Paul Calvin Snoke of Washington, who died Thursday, April 15, 2004 will be received on Friday from 2 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA, where services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 11:00 am, Pastor’s Gary Gibson and Ed Charlton officiating. Interment will follow in West Middletown Cemetery. Family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 357 East Maiden Street, Washington or Citizens Library, College Street, Washington.
