Richard William Mcveigh, Sr.

Richard William McVeigh, Sr., 66, of Washington, died April 8, 2008, in his home, following a brief illness. He was born February 11, 1942, in Washington, a son of Ralph J. and Grace Marie Casterline McVeigh. Mr. McVeigh attended Trinity Area Schools and was employed as a surveyor for Engelhartdt-Power, now known as Widmer Engineering, for 34 years. Mr. McVeigh was a member of Meadowlands Sportsman’s Association, where he served as Trustee, and Charleroi Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding quads. His faith was Protestant. On October 12, 2001, he married Caroline Dick, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Richard W. McVeigh, Jr. and wife Pamela, of Claysville, Robert L. McVeigh, and wife Barbara Wheeler, of Washington, Anthony Spallino, of Lumberton, NC, and Christopher Spallino, of Chicago, IL; a brother, Ralph Edward McVeigh, of Washington; grandchildren, Cody, Colton, Corey, Austin, and Morgan; and 2 great grandchildren, Jay and Weston. His first wife, Barbara Kay Houston McVeigh, died August 1, 2000. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, 331 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301, or Meadowlands Sportsman’s Association, Claysville, PA.
