Richard Barlow, Jr.

Richard Barlow Jr., 74, of Washington, died at 10:22 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2004, in UPMC-South Side hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 15, 1930, in Washington, a son of Richard Sr. and Minnie Naylor Barlow. Mr. Barlow was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and attended Trinity High School and Washington & Jefferson College. He served in the National Guard and U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He earned an Army of Occupation Medal in Germany and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Barlow was employed in transportation at Jessop Steel for 44 years. He had a private pilot license and was a member of Jessop Club and Taylorstown American Legion. On November 22, 1950, he married Shirley Klinzing, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Richard W. Barlow (Bonnie) of Washington; two daughters, Cindy Santelli (Thomas) and Joy Lee Daviduk, all of Washington; a brother, James A. Barlow of Washington; a sister, Margaret Ann Grudi (Robert) of Washington; eight grandchildren, Chaundel Franks, Carrie Daviduk, Caroline Hall, Tracie Daviduk, Jessica Hunter, Richard E. Barlow, Mandi Barlow and Thomas Santelli Jr.; four great-grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. A sister, Doris Camp, is deceased. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23, with the Rev. Thomas Clymer officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
