Marilou R. Kimble, 86, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in The Washington Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 24, 1921, in Washington, a daughter of Samuel Paul and Mary Coressa Lytle Ritchey. Mrs. Kimble graduated from Hickory High School in 1939, and studied accounting at Penn Commercial. She worked as a bookkeeper for Kimble Farm Equipment and in the Department of Public Welfare in Arizona for ten years. Mrs. Kimble was a member of Church of the Covenant and a former member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church. She always sang in the church choir. An avid quilter, Mrs. Kimble taught quilting for 25 years and was a member of the Tarheal Quilters in North Carolina for ten years and the Martha Washington Quilters’ Guild. In addition to quilting, she enjoyed flower gardening. On September 16, 1949, she married Raymond E. Kimble, who died May 17, 1997. Surviving are a son, William R. (Betty L.) Kimble of Pella, Iowa; two daughters, Carol K. (Philip E.) Narrigon of Washington and Dr. Mary Kimble of Evanston, Illinois; five grandchildren, Michael Kanzius, Amy K. Bassford, Ramona VanDusseldorp, Steven Kimble; and David Kimble; for step-grandchildren, Phillip Narrigon, Stephen Narrigon, Colleen Schmitt and Michelle Lukas; nine great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased is a sister, Betty Patterson. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
