Mildred Loraine Cummings, 86, of Pittsburgh, died Monday, July 6, 2009, in Mercy Hospital. She had been in declining health.
She was born January 5, 1923, in Meadowlands, a daughter of Charles and Anna Bellino Haught.
Mrs. Cummings was a homemaker, a member of New Life in Christ Church, Washington, and was devoted to her grandchildren.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling at Alpine Lanes, and sports, especially football, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
During World War II, Mrs. Cummings served in the Marines, from May 30, 1944, until her honorable discharge on May 17, 1946.
Her husband, Dude Cummings, died in1997.
Surviving are a son, Christopher (Susanne) Cummings of Washington; a daughter, Holly Jo (Donald) Wood of Pittsburgh; a sister, Beverly Selvaggi of Washington; seven grandchildren, Adam, Joshua, Andrew, Jessica, Jessie, Randy and Michael; and one great-grandchild, Austin.
Deceased are two brothers, Charles Haught and Donald Haught.
At the request of the deceased, no public visitation will be held. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 1st, in New Life in Christ Church, 600 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Dan Lutes officiating. Private inurnment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
