Trinity H.S., Duquesne grad was W.Va. registered nurse. Stephen Douglas McConnell, 33, of Barrackville, West Virginia, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 24, 2007. He was born September 28, 1973, in Washington, a son of Harry E. “Bo� and Cathy Sutherland McConnell of Washington. Mr. McConnell graduated from Trinity High School in 1991 and from Duquesne University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in nursing. He was on Duquesne's swim team while in college, and still enjoyed swimming, as well as golfing. He was a fan of the Penguins and Steelers. Mr. McConnell, a loving husband and father, enjoyed watching trains with his son every day. He was a registered nurse and worked at Lab Corp. in Morgantown, West Virginia. Mr. McConnell was Presbyterian by faith. On October 2, 2004, he married Diana Toothman, who survives. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are a son, Presston McConnell, at home; two sisters, Kristin (John) Nastal of Pittsburgh and Julie McConnell of Washington; maternal grandparents, Chuck and Caryl Sutherland of Washington; father- and mother-in-law, Gary and Bonnie Toothman of Barrackville, West Virginia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Deceased are his paternal grandparents, Donald and Mildred McConnell. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28th, with Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
