Marjorie Louise Travis, 70, of Avella, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007, in Lake Wales (Fla.) Medical Center, following a two-day illness.
She was born December 15, 1936, in Taylorstown, a daughter of Wilbur Wray and Gladys McDowell Stewart.
Mrs. Travis attended Claysville High School.
She had been employed by McGuffey High School in the cafeteria, from where she retired. Prior to that, she had been employed by Green Valley Packing.
Mrs. Travis was a member of Taylorstown Christian Church for more than 50 years and was a member of the women's society of the Christian Church.
She enjoyed traveling and was very involved with her grandchildren's activities. She spent the winter months at her home in Florida.
On February 28, 1953, in West Finley, she was married by the Rev. W.W. Dinsmore to her husband, Vincent Edward Travis, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Travis and wife Karen and Jay Travis and wife Nancy, both of Avella; two daughters, Barbara Carlisle and husband David of West Middletown and Brenda Stanley and husband Eric of Washington; a brother, John Stewart of Washington; a sister, Patty McConnell of Washington; and six grandchildren, Keith Carlisle, Derrick Carlisle, Dana Stanley, Cpl. Heath Stanley of Iraq, Amber Travis and Aubrie Travis.
A sister, Sarah Jane McConnell, is deceased.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, with the Rev. Tyler Barlage officiating.
Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Taylorstown Christian Church.
