Alan A. Hill, 60, of Hickory, died Friday, April 17, 2009, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 28, 1948, in Washington, a son of Dorothy Daguanno Hill, of Hickory, and the late Paul H. Hill. He was a 1966 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and a 1970 graduate of the University of Arkansas, with a degree in Psychology and History. He was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Mr. Hill once worked at CIT Finance and had a twenty-five year tenure with Mellon Bank, where he was one of the top five lending officers in the whole Mellon system and received numerous awards from the vice-chairman. He ended his career at Washington Council on Economic Development, where he was responsible for financing the starting of new businesses. He was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church, where he was a past clerk of session, a deacon, and an elder. Mr. Hill was a life endowment member of the National Rifle Association of America, a proud life member of the Republican National Committee, with a lifetime of dedication and support for the National Republican Party. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and a life-member of the American Fishing Association. Mr. Hill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors, planting his garden, and watching sports on television. Surviving are his wife, Sandra LeMal Hill, whom he married September 26, 1970; a son, Kevin Alan Hill, of Hickory; his mother-in-law, Juliana LeMal; a niece, Michelle Bollinger; a nephew, Tim Golightly; a sister-in-law, Wendy Golightly; two brothers-in-law, Richard LeMal and Mark Golightly; a great niece, Hannah Grace Golightly; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Deceased, in addition to his father, are his grandparents, Loretto and Julia Daguanno and Huber and Anna Mary Hill. Also deceased is his devoted cat, Kittee. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 W. Pike Street, Canonsburg, with Rev. Tom Hamilton officiating. Those attending the service are to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. The family suggests memorial contributions to National Wildlife Federation, Chesapeake Mid-Atlantic Regional Center, 706 Giddings Avenue, Suite 28, Annapolis, MD 21401; or Washington County Humane Society, 1527 Route 136, Eighty-Four, PA 15330.
