James Charles Mankey, 68, of Washington, died Thursday, August 19, 2010, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born September 29, 1941, in Prosperity, a son of the late Kenneth and Ruth Iams Mankey.
Mr. Mankey was a retired over-the-road truck driver as well as a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church and long-time member of National Rifle Association. Mr. Mankey was a classic car enthusiast and belonged to the Covered Bridge Car Club. His favorite past-times were spending time with his grandchildren and riding his motorcycle.
After six months of active duty training in the Army, Mr. Mankey served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for several years.
Surviving are two sons, Justin E. Mankey of Washington and Joshua R. Mankey of Westland; two daughters, Bonnie Petros and Rebecca (Robert) Miller, both of Washington; his companion, Susan E. Shaw; a brother, Gene Mankey, of Cadiz, Ohio; a sister, Susan Hiestand of Hershey; and two grandchildren, Madison Petros and Robert C. Miller; and his former wife, Karen Ashcraft Mankey.
Deceased are a brother, Edward Mankey, and an infant daughter.
Friends will be received Sunday from Noon till 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 23rd, with Pastor Larry Deemer officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
