Christopher James Wall, 33, son of Bill and Beth Wall, and brother of Erin Nichols, Megan Wall and Kelly Wall, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Despite Chris’s valiant efforts, he lost the battle against the disease of addiction.
Chris was an extremely kind, compassionate, and fun loving human being. All who knew Chris enjoyed being in his company, and soon became aware of his quick wit, his keen intelligence, and extensive knowledge. Pick a topic, and somehow, Chris knew something, about it. Chris was a lively conversationalist, and cherished “hanging out” with friends and family.
Chris was born in Pittsburgh December 31, 1982, and lived the first five years of his life in Robinson Township, Allegheny County. Chris and family moved to East Washington, PA in 1988, where Chris lived until 2009 when he moved to Germantown, Maryland for three years. Chris returned to East Washington in 2012.
Chris was a student at Washington School District from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 2001, near the top of his class. In the fall of 2001, Chris started his higher education at the main campus of Penn State, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, with a minor in Bio-Engineering. After graduation, Chris began working for URS, a large multi-national engineering firm. Most of his project work was environmental.
Among Chris’s passions was music. He was a gifted musician and could play the piano beautifully, played the trombone throughout middle school and high school years, and recently started playing the guitar. He was a member of the high school Steel Drum Band, Jazz Band, Marching and Concert Bands.
Chris loved sports, both as a participant and a spectator. At the age of three, Chris played his first soccer game. He was on community, travel, and school soccer teams from then until he graduated from high school, when he closed out his senior as an All-star. A few years later, Chris coached youth soccer for a short period of time. He was a tennis player, participating on the high school’s tennis team for four years. He also took much pleasure in playing other pick up sports (football, baseball, basketball) with friends.
Chris was an avid reader, and when not occupied by one of his many interests, he could be seen absorbed in the lure of a book.
Chris is survived and missed by many, including those closest to him: his parents and sisters as named above. Additionally, he is survived by brothers-in-law, Andy Nichols and Justin Hull, and many aunts and uncles. He cherished spending time with his beloved cousins, Adam Bednar, Heather Stephens (Lyle), Collin Bednar (Holly), John Antolic, Tom Antolic, Gretchen Wall, and Angie Lakis. He adored his nephews Connor Nichols, Foster Carlino, and niece, Adelyn Nichols. He had many, many close friends, too many to name.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held Monday, May 16, 2016, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, with visitation from 3 pm until 6 pm, followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. Friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The SPHS Care Center, 75 East Maiden Street, #100, Washington PA 15301.
