Edward Joseph Kozlowski

Edward Joseph Kozlowski, 93 of Washington, died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Donnell House. He was born July 25, 1922 in Sharpsburg, the son of the late William Kozlowski and Caroline Dudek Kozlowski. Edward graduated from Sharpsburg High School and attended college for one year. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and reenlisted during the Korean Conflict serving a total of 8 years. Edward was a U.S. Postal Carrier for 17 years. He owned Ed’s Grocery on Goat Hill for 28 years and also was a laundromat owner for 11 years. He was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175. On March 19, 1946 he married Leokadia Sielicka in Reichenhal, Germany, who survives. They were married for 68 years. Also surviving are two sons, Tom Kozlowski of Champion, PA, Kevin (Victoria) Kozlowski of Washington; a daughter, Christine Primm of Newark, OH; four grandchildren, Jason (Stacey) Kozlowski, Cathy (David) Stansbury, Kory and Kyle Kozlowski; five great grandchildren, Alex and Joshua James, Catie Stansbury, Nichole Stern and Hayden Kozlowski. Deceased are several brothers and sisters. Friends will be received Tuesday, August 25, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington. On Wednesday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church with Father Thomas O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Donnell House, c/o Washington Health System Hospice Care, 155 Wilson Ave, Washington, PA 15301.
