Milton G. Augenstene went to be with his Lord and Savior on, Wednesday, January 28, 2015.
He was born in 1921 in Pittsburgh, a son of G. Milton and Alma Brubach Augenstene.
He was a Christian and a member of Central Assembly of God, where he served at one time as a greeter. He visited the shut-ins and was interested in evangelism.
Mr. Augenstene was a World Wart II veteran serving with the U. S. Coast Guard in the Aleutian Islands and was also an instructor of Radar for the U.S War Department.
He graduated from Brentwood High School and from Lamar University (Port Arthur, TX) Radio School. He began his broadcasting career at Radio Station WWSW and then was manager of engineering operations at Channel 11, WPXI until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the IEEE and a life member of The Society of Broadcast Engineers. Upon retirement he moved from Bethel Park to Prosperity and kept busy gardening and operating Augenstene’s Evergreen Farm selling cut-your-own Christmas Trees.
He was also interested in Amateur Radio Broadcasting with call letters W3UWS.
On July 7, 1951 he married Elinor Lloyd, his wife of 63 years, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, David M. Augenstene of McKeesport, Donald W. Augenstene of Prosperity, Richard (Ladise) Augenstene of Allen, TX and Daniel L. Augenstene of Springfield, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his two sisters, Grace Schindler and Lillian Hasenkopf. He was the last of his immediate family.
Friends will be received at The Rock Youth Center, 2203 West Pike Street, Houston, PA, Monday, February 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the time of service, with Pastor Todd Stemple officiating. Burial will follow at Woodruff Memorial Park.
