Charlotte A. Mccarrell

Charlotte A. McCarrell, 97, of Washington, died on Friday, July 4, 2014, in Hawthorne Woods. She was born on November 11, 1916, in Washington Township, Greene County, daughter of Ernest L. and Charlotte Addleman Hawkins. A graduate of Jefferson High School, in Greene County, she went on to obtain her degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. McCarrell was a long-time tax preparer and notary, working for 30 years in the office on Jefferson Avenue, in Tylerdale. She was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, since 1945, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Aid, and elder. She loved her church, and, enjoyed being very active in it. Mrs. McCarrell was a member of the Washington Country Club, and she enjoyed playing Bridge, crafts and bowling. On June 8, 1943, she married Guy B. McCarrell, who died on December 7, 1997. June 8th was also the same date that her parents, mother and father in-law, and a grandchild were married. Surviving are two sons, G. Bernard (DeAnna) McCarrell, of Aurora, OH, and Robert H. (Kathy) McCarrell, of Washington; a daughter, Sharlie K. (Jack) Pavella, of Washington; a brother, James (Mary) Hawkins, of Lippincott, PA; two sisters, Sara Roberts, of Media, PA, and Margaret Bower, of Boynton Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, Geoffrey McCarrell, Mitchell (Andy) McCarrell, Christopher McCarrell, Jonathan Pavella, Emily (Nate) Holmes, Heidi (Dan) Gottron, Katie McCarrell, and Rob McCarrell. Deceased are six siblings. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 11, 2014, with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
