Mary Abrams, 85, of Washington, died Friday, July 5, 2014, in her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born on March 7, 1929, in Dearborn, Michigan, a daughter of Emilio and Ines Alvares Viejon Morais. She was a graduate of Fordson High School in Michigan.
For more than 46 years, she was co-owner and operator of Sebe’s Market on Maple Avenue in Washington. She was a member of the Christian Church of North America, loved her family and cooking for them, and also enjoyed fishing.
On September 13, 1950, she married Robert C. Abrams, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert G. ( Deborah ) Abrams, of Washington; a daughter, Ramay ( Richard ) Horner of Washington; a brother Ralph Morais of Michigan; a sister Matilda Spino of Washington; four grandchildren, Echo ( Damon ) Muncie, Cigi ( Chet ) Henderson, Clayton and Jordan Jackson; as well as three great-grandchildren, Nathan Muncie, Chessa and Camrik Henderson.
Preceding her in death are a daughter, Mary Alyce Abrams ; brothers, Barney, Kelko, and Domingo Morais; and a sister Rosie Karsnock.
Friends of Mary Abrams, 85, of Washington, who died Friday, July 5, 2014, will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:00 AM, Pastor Rob Berk officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
