Mary B. Heaton, 62, of Washington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
She was born July 9, 1950 in Washington, PA, the daughter of the late Abraham Moses and Bessie Baron Moses.
Mary graduated from Trinity High School and received her Bachelor’s degree at California University and her Master’s degree at Pitt in social work.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Mary was employed at Children and Youth Services as a Foster Care Supervisor for over 20 years. She was very dedicated to Foster Children in the community both at work and privately.
On December 6, 2001, she committed to her soul mate, Mary Anne Jankowiak, who survives.
Also surviving are her son, William Heaton ( Tina ), of Altoona, PA; her daughter, Elizabeth Heaton of St. Petersburg, FL; step son, Chris (Tiffany) Jankowiak of Cecil; step daughter Michelle (Andrew) Jankowiak of Washington; two brothers, David B. (Bonnie) Moses of Columbus, OH and Clayton J. (Carol) Moses of Austin, TX; a sister, Sara Moses (Frank) Steratore of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Victoria and Hunter Heaton and Jacob and Lucas Jankowiak.
Friends will be received Sunday, April 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, April 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington where services will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Bellhy officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
