Orville George Walker, 91, of Washington, died Monday, October 15, 2012, in the Washington Hospital. He was born March 26, 1921, in Washington, a son of George LeMoyne Walker and Ruth Young Walker. During World War II, Mr. Walker served in the Army with the 412th Field Artillery Battalion in Central Europe. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. On December 4, 1945, he was honorably discharged as a Technician, fifth grade. Mr. Walker enjoyed calligraphy, leather crafting, woodworking, metal detecting and playing horseshoes. He was a member of the Washington Horseshoe Club and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. For 34 years, he worked for Coastal Tank Lines. He was Presbyterian by faith. On October 1, 1971, he married Dawn Delores Jeffers, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Greg Walker and Gary (Bonnie) Walker, both of Woodbridge, Virginia; a daughter, Sharon (James) Blackburn of Washington; a stepson, Darrell G. Namie of Monaca; four grandchildren, Mila Samples, Heather, Anita and Brandon Walker; a step-grandchild, Darrell G. Namie Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Destiny, Morgan and Cody Hamill and Micayla Samples. Deceased are brothers, Charles, James Bernard, William and Gene Walker; and sisters, Irene Strider and Ruth Walker. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services.
