Betty Jane Harton

Betty Jane Harton, 81, of Washington, died Friday, May 18, 2012, in her home. She was born September 2, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of Joseph and Etta Mae Carroll Grimm. Mrs. Harton worked as a custodian in the Washington Trust Building for eight years and most recently was a foster grandmother through the Head Start Program, She loved all animals, enjoyed old movies, and collected angels. On September 9, 1950, she married Gaylord Eugene Harton, who died February 8, 2001. Surviving are two sons, David (Linda) Harton, of Washington, and Charles (Andrea) Harton, of Houston; a daughter, Marlene (Nelson) Huffman, of Washington; and five grandchildren, Beth (Shawn) Eisler, David (Kristen) Harton, Frank Huffman, Amber Thomas, and Adam Thomas. Deceased are three brothers, Joseph, David, and Frank Grimm; and six sisters, Jeanette Fleming, Lillie Grimm Hughes, Susan Diaz, Clara Johnson, Margaret Carlisle, and Edna Deems. Friends will be received 2 to 4, and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, in William G Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Washington County Humane Society, 1527 Route 136, Eighty-Four, PA 15330.
