Charles “Chuckie” Edward Martin, 58, of Washington, died Friday, November 11, 2011, in the Donnell House, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 8, 1953, in Washington, a son of Charles (Cap) Martin and Sarah Jane Meyer Martin.
Mr. Martin graduated from Washington High School in 1972, was a painter, worked at the Union Grill, and most recently worked for Paris Construction.
He loved the Martin get togethers and had many memorable trips to 20 Pines, a cabin on Tussey Mt. Jersey Shore, Ocean City, Md., New Orleans, Disney World, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Las Vegas, and Myrtle Beach.
Mr. Martin enjoyed playing cards, was an exceptional black jack player, enjoyed going to the casino and all sports. He had a knack for remembering statistics and names.
Everyone he met was a friend, and he made so many lasting friendships, including Frank Westcott, Chink and Donna Jones, Mickey Flynn, Mardy and Lisa Steele, and many more.
He was a Christian and attended Church of the Covenant.
Surviving are the pride and joy of his life, daughter, Darcy Martin Dennis (John Mark) and grandson, Brayden Dennis, of Myrtle Beach; brothers, Fred Martin (Laurie) of Lake Worth, FL, and Bill Martin (Leslie) of Canonsburg; a sister, Joan Martin Brownlee (Dan), of Washington; nieces, Kelly Brownlee, Kara Brownlee Myers (Justin), Kathy Missel (Kerry), Kimberly Martin, Annie Martin Stone (Paul), and Jaime Martin Stanek (James), nephews, Kent Brownlee (Tera), Brian Martin, and Bryan Hryniewich, (Katy), nieces and nephews, cousins, and Janice Smiley Churby, mother of his daughter, and his dog Macey.
Deceased are his parents, grandparents, J. Wylie and Bertha Martin, and Lucille and Fred Meyer.
Friends will be received 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, in William G Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011, with Pastor Justin Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
