Raymond Clifford Inks ended his journey on earth as he went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 28, 2011, at 6:15 p.m. at the Donnell House in Washington.
He was born January 5, 1937, in Washington, the son of Melvin E. Inks, Sr., and Esther Cary White Inks.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1955, and on October 3, 1955, he married Alice Elaine Jones, who survives.
Mr. Inks spent 1-½ years in the PA National Guard during his high school years and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 1955. He rose to Specialist, 5th class, in the Army Security Agency and was discharged in July 1958. He and Elaine lived in Massachusetts for 2 ½ years and then returned to Washington where he worked for Hazel Atlas Glass #2 for a short time. He later sold stainless steel for Campbell Stainless Steel. In 1963, he was employed as a systems analyst at McGraw-Edison where he worked his way to the position of MIS Manager for Cooper Industries. He retired in January of 1993.
Mr. Inks enjoyed woodworking and making crafts. He designed and built kitchens for several family members. He loved taking trips to South Carolina with his wife to visit his son and family. He was a Boy Scout leader and later a Royal Ranger leader with his church. Mr. Inks was a Christian and loved serving the Lord. For 37 years, he was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, where, for many years, he was a helper in the Adult Sunday School Class.
Some of his greatest pleasures were his grandchildren. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Susan Rae Cawley (Michael Cawley) of Washington; a son, Jeffery Ray Inks (Rhonda Hoover Inks) of Piedmont, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Geoffery Brennan Inks (Ashley Leverette Inks) of Piedmont, SC, and Ida Cawley and Letty Cawley of Washington; and a great-grandson, Brennan Lee Inks of Piedmont, SC.
Deceased is his brother, Melvin Edward Inks, Jr.
