Sally Ann Mihalovich Rutan, 78, of Washington, died Saturday, October 8, 2011, in Donnell House, with her family by her side. She had been ill for the past 13 months.
She was born August 21, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of Steven and Anna Maglee Mihalovich.
Mrs. Rutan was a graduate of Trinity High School, where she was a majorette. She was a long-time employee of First National Bank in the credit department.
A loving wife and mother, she was a seamstress and accomplished baker. Mrs. Rutan enjoyed traveling.
She was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church.
On December 17, 1950, in Fourth Presbyterian Church, she married Melvin P. Rutan, who survives. They would have celebrated the 60th wedding anniversary in December.
Also surviving are three daughters, Paula Sue (Erwin) Leppert of Washington, Pamela Ann (Larry) Garner of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Trinity Terri Rutan of Pittsburgh; a sister, Vivian H. Craig of West Middletown; four grandchildren, Tammy Cherry, Brandy Decker, E. Carl Leppert and David Paul Leppert; seven great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Helen Greene and Diane Malinak.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 11th, with Rev. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
