Donald Roy Chaney, 78, of Washington, passed away on December 23, 2010, in the Washington Hospital, surrounded by his family.He was born on November 13, 1932, in Washington, a son of the late Glenn and Gladys Ward Chaney.Mr. Chaney was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a graduate of Washington High School.He was retired from LTV Steel, where he worked as a carpenter.Mr. Chaney was a member of the Arms Club, Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175 of the American Legion, VFW, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.He enjoyed traveling, making hard tack candy, military history and especially his grandchildren.On December 3, 2006, he married Linda Wickline, who survives.Also surviving is a daughter, Christie (Stephen) Scampoli, of Norton, MA; 2 step-daughters, Stacy (Brittany) Laurie, of Pittsburgh and Nicole (Paul) Richardson, of Myrtle Beach; 1 brother, Glenn (Mary Ellen) Chaney, of Walterboro, SC., 7 grandchildren, and one very special nephew and friend, Glenn “Dick” (Peggy) Chaney, of Knotts Island, NC.Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Goldie Stockdale Chaney, a sister, Alberta Mundell and 2 brothers, Robert Lee Chaney and Kenneth “Dickie” Chaney. Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens.
