William E. “Bill” Vance, Sr., 75, of Houston, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, in UPMC-Shadyside Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Jody; daughter, Katie; grandson, Luke; sister, Lois; grandson, William; granddaughter, Amber; and granddaughter, Shae. Born May 1, 1948, in Washington, he was a son of the late Wilbert E. Vance and Marian Lucille Mounts Vance. Mr. Vance owned and operated William Vance, Sr., Contracting, which he started in his twenties. He loved animals and riding his Harley. Bill enjoyed working around the house, as well as flower gardening, planting flowers and trees, and yardwork. Every evening, he enjoyed a sweet tea and glazed donut from Dunkin Donuts. He loved his family and his dog, Boss, who was always at his side. Eleven years ago, he received a double-lung transplant. Exceeding the life expectancy by many years, his doctors at UPMC referred to him as a medical miracle. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
