William Elmer Steele Jr., 73, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in his home. He was born February 21, 1951, in Washington, a son of the late William Elmer Steele Sr. and Emma Jane Mull Steele. Elmer served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He retired from Serv-Steel as a press operator after 25 years of employment. He was the Union Steward for Local 249 for many years. Elmer was a member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Westland Sportsman Club. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a certified diesel mechanic. On August 3, 1972, he married Deanna Lynn Manes Steele, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Brent Steele and Bobby (Megan) Steele; a daughter, Amy Burnsworth; grandchildren Katie, Courtney, Grayson, Faith, Michael, Haley, Bella, Layla, Bryson, Victoria, Amanda and Charles; great-grandchildren Hunter, Briein, Emma, Emberlynn, Wyatt, Waylon, Dani Jo and Matthias; two sisters, Martha Caldwell and Karen Kilmyer; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Jackie and Bobby Steele, and two sisters, Sharon Rhodes and Helen Stillwell. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11 , 2025 in Washington Cemetery. Everyone is asked to please meet a the funeral home at 9 a.m. to process to the cemetery.
