William Lester Mcvehil

William Lester “Bill” McVehil, 70, of Washington, died on Sunday, February 4, 2018, in the Donnell House. He was born on August 12, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late William Lester (Myrtle) McVehil, Sr., and Maude Walker Cole McVehil. Mr. McVehil was a corrections officer for SCI Greene, retiring in 2009.  He had also worked at Western Center, and as an EMT for Ambulance and Chair, in Canonsburg. A veteran of the United States Army, he was honorably discharged as a Private, on September 28, 1972. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Bill was a member of the Canton Township Fire and Police Departments, and the Houston American Legion Post 902. An avid outdoorsman, Bill loved his tractor, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, going on cruises, and traveling. On August 31, 1991, he married Sylvia Kennell, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, John A. (Kellie) Laschinsky, of Washington, Rich A. Laschinsky, of Washington, and Michael G. (Amy) Laschinsky, of Canonsburg; two daughters, Yvonne (Francisco) Reyes, of Oregon, and Bernice Polanco, of Texas; two sisters, Leona Dodd, of Canonsburg, and Bessie (Charles) McElhaney, of Washington; numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park. Military Rites will be accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
