William “Bill” B. Maurer, 77, of Washington, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, in his home.
He was born August 11, 1947, in Washington, the son of the late William Maurer and Grace Dorrycott Maurer.
Bill was a 1965 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and a 1970 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree.
He retired from USPS after 40 years of service and employment. He had many positions throughout the years including mail handler, letter carrier, supervisor of mail processing, rural carrier analyst and instructor, mail processing evaluator, trainer and postmaster of Bentleyville. He worked in the areas of Washington, Venetia, Pittsburgh and Wellsburg, West Virginia. After his retirement, he worked for GG&C for three years as a CDL bus driver.
Bill was the #1 Stooge with his passion for anything and everything Three Stooges. Christmas was his favorite holiday and every room in the home exhibited seasonal decorations. The perpetual family man loved his yearly trips to the beach with family. He also enjoyed festivals, traveling, puzzling, and watching westerns. He actively followed his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand niece and nephew in their activities and cheered them on.
On May 31, 1969, he married Patricia “Patty” J. Toth Maurer, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Anthony “Tony” W. (Lee) Maurer of Washington; a daughter, Jennifer “Jenn” A. Maurer of Lowell, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Destiny (Paul) Everett, Toni (Dallas) Stopperich and Samantha Maurer; three great-grandchildren, Justin Everett, Abel Stopperich and Felix Stopperich; a brother, John Maurer (Janet) of Washington; his granddog, Gage, several nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Christine Maurer, and a sister, Catherine Maurer, who passed away in infancy.
Arrangements are private and entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
