Wayne Verno passed away peacefully Friday, January 10, 2025, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born February 16, 1935, in Washington, a son of the late Tom and Ida Marraccine Verno. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Grandel. He was the last of his immediate family. Surviving is his loving and devoted wife, Diana. They were happily married for 55 years. They were married April 10, 1970. Also surviving are two sons, whom he was very proud of, Wayne Anthony Verno of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jeremy Alexander (Karri) Verno of Mansfield, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Penelope Grace Verno and Alexander David Verno; and his dog, Zipper, who was always by his side. Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. A special thank you is given to the VA for their support and concern. He retired from Star Dynamics as a welder. In his free time, Wayne enjoyed working with his hands. He could fix or repair anything. He also enjoyed woodworking and building furniture, but he especially loved working on clocks. He built and repaired many grandfather, mantel, and cuckoo clocks in Washington and surrounding areas. He loved completing jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of the Alpine Club. Wayne was Catholic by faith. To honor his wishes, there will be no public viewing and burial will be private. Wayne will be missed.
