Violet Kopko McKinney, 87, formerly of Washington, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
She was born May 24, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of the late Mary Kopko (John Sr.) Shuba and Alexander Washinski.
She attended Trinity Area Schools and worked for Schneider’s Restaurant, Imperial Cleaners, and as a housekeeper/aid for the Letoli and Lyon families.Violet was Catholic by faith.
Mrs. McKinney enjoyed spending time with her dogs MaMa and Tobi, sitting on her front porch talking with family and friends who stopped by to visit her.
On February 17, 1949, at her family home, she married Kenneth K. McKinney, Sr., who passed away on December 21, 2000, after 51 years of marriage.
Surviving are five sons, Larry (Ann) Kopko of Kent. Ohio, Kenneth (Mary) McKinney, Jr. of Atlasburg, Gary (Sheila) McKinney Sr., Jeffrey (Lori) McKinney, Randy McKinney (fiancée Paula Moss), all of Washington; two daughters, Mary (the late Robert) Graham of Washington and Debbie (Larry Sr.) Harshey of Atlasburg; 36 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Alice) Shuba and Mike (Louise) Shuba, both of Washington; a sister, Helen Sumney of Eighty Four; and two stepsisters, Bertha (Ernie) Wade of Florida and Millie Shuba of Youngstown, Ohio.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, mother, stepfather and father, are a daughter, Donna Work; a son, Dennis McKinney; three grandchildren, Larry Kopko, J r., Randy L. Fischer and Donald W. Delvecchio; two brothers, John Shuba Jr. and Samuel J. Shuba; stepbrother, Henry Shuba; and grandparents, Mike and Julia Kozdra Kopko.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 26th, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
