Vincent Travis

Vincent E. Travis, 81 of Avella, died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center in Sebring, Florida. He was born March 28, 1936 in East Finley, the son of the late Nelson Travis and Beatrice Mahan Travis. Vincent worked for Dutton Paving, Taylorstown Oil Company and Travis Paving and retired from Jessop Steel in 1995.    After retirement he lived the winter months in Frostproof, Florida and the summers in Avella, Pennsylvania. After retirement he lived winter months Frostproof, Florida and Avella in the summer. He was a member of Taylorstown Christian Church, the Antique Tractor Association, American Quarter Horse Association and the State Line Saddle Club. He enjoyed working on antique tractors and cars and played for Taylorstown Dartball Team. On February 28, 1953, he married Marjorie L. Stewart, who died January 19, 2007. Surviving are four children, William (Karen) Travis of Taylorstown, Barbara Carlisle of Avella, Brenda (Eric) Stanley of Champion and Jay (Nancy) Travis of Taylorstown; six grandchildren, Keith (Jill) Carlisle, Derrick Carlisle, Dana Stanley, Heath Stanley, Amber Travis and Aubrie Travis; six great grandchildren, Delaney, Logan, Ryker and Tiege Carlisle and Ethan Martin and Avery Stanley; his companion, June Bohannon; several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his siblings, Leo Travis, James Travis, Harvey Travis and Shirley Chaney. Friends will be received Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 2 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev Michael Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Claysville Cemetery.
