Vanessa D. Beatty, 64, of Prosperity, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, in her home. She was born November 15, 1959, in Washington, a daughter of the late Harold Thomas and Mildred Polen Thomas. Vanessa was a 1977 graduate of McGuffey High School and received an associate degree from Penn Commercial. She was employed by the United States Postal Service, from where she retired as a mail carrier. Vanessa was a member of Old Concord Presbyterian Church. She loved horses and horse riding, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, journaling and family gatherings. She was very spiritual and family oriented. On June 24, 1978, she married her husband, James C. Beatty, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Shane A. Beatty of Ladysmith, Virginia; a daughter, Sheena Beatty of Prosperity; a granddaughter, Jade T. Beatty; two sisters, Melanie (Dennis) Thomas-Finney of Houston and Melissa (Ed) Szygenda of East Finley; a sister and brother-in-law, James and Dorthy Simpson of Washington; a sister-in-law, Connie King of Claysville; a daughter-in-law, Emma Beatty of Claysville; 10 nieces and nephews; and a great-niece. Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a sister, Valerie Thomas. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital. All arrangements are private and entrusted to William G.
