Tyrone "Ty" Andrew Wormsley

Tyrone “Ty” Andrew Wormsley, 51, of Washington, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Washington Hospital. He was born July 31, 1973, in Washington, a son of Thomas (Lou) Wormsley and Rose “Kitty” (Frank) Robinson. Also surviving is his stepmother, Sandra Urista. Tyrone was a graduate of Trinity High School, where he played football and ran track. He attended WVU Potomac State College. He was very well known in the community. He coached Wash High softball, including Twist. Coaching was his passion and was a mentor to many young men and women. Tyrone enjoyed fishing, eating, cooking, and playing cornhole. He was a huge Steelers fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his kids and grandkids. Surviving, in addition to his parents and stepmother, are his wife, Joy L. Bainer; six children, Kelsee Bainer, Deja (Troy) Cumer, Michaela Johnson, Tyrone A. (Macy) Wormsley, Kierston Wormsley and Kieran Wormsley; three grandchildren, Kilee, Elijah and Riven; five siblings, Thomas “Beaver” Wormsley, Massey Wormsley, Carrie Urista, Lamar Wormsley and Lorin Wormsley; his mother-in-law, Sharon “Maw Maw” Bainer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. Deceased are a nephew, Lamar Tyrone Wormsley, and an uncle, Tyrone Henry Jones. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, Thursday, September 26, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A celebration of life will follow in the Alpine Club, Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses for Kieran’s travel softball.
