Thomas M. Carter, 86, of Washington, died on May 28, 2022, in Woodside Place. He was born on June 26, 1935, in Washington, a son of the late Thomas “Morgan” Carter and Esther Markley Carter. A graduate of Trinity High School, he also took several college classes. Mr. Carter retired from Cerdec Corporation in 2003. Thomas was a member of the Masonic Lodge 167 for over fifty years. An avid gardener, he was also a very creative and artistic person, and enjoyed activities that took advantage of his creative talents, including woodworking, playing the piano and building jigsaw puzzles. Thomas loved going out for coffee so much, that his family always joked that he had a serious Starbucks addiction. On December 31, 1977, he married Mary Jones, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Tom (Glenna) Carter, of Houston, Diane (Greg) Winkelman, of Washington, Scott (Melissa) Carter, of Harrisburg, and Julie (Chris) Christensen, of Butler; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, Erin, Hannah, Keith, Danielle, Eric, Madison, Savanah, Lauren, Matt, Emily, and Amy; five great grandchildren, Bryson, Blaze, Brayden, Oliver, and Mila; and three nieces, Teri, Christine, and Amy. Deceased is a sister, Virginia Martin. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Central Assembly of God, 155 McGovern Rd., Houston, PA.
