Sophie Siedlak Earnest, 94, of Washington, died Monday, July 13, 2020, in Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born October 12, 1925, in Willard, West Virginia, a daughter of Jacob Siedlak and Bronistawa Brzezanska Siedlak. Mrs. Earnest worked as a packer at Hazel Atlas. She enjoyed quilting, making rugs, playing bingo, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles. Mrs. Earnest was a member of St. Hilary Church and Buffalo Grange. On February 14, 1953, she married Lee H. Earnest, who died December 8, 2006. Surviving are a daughter, Bertha Kovacicek of Washington; a brother, Edward (Helen) Siedlak of Washington; two grandchildren, Louis S. (Kelly) Kovacicek and Brenda L. Kovacicek; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Kolton Kovacicek; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Theodore Siedlak; and four sisters, Helen Rendziak, Mary Zawacki, Ann Abajace, and Antoinette Bier. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, July 20th, in St. Hilary Church, with Rev. George Chortos as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
