Shirley Marie Thomas, 83, of Washington, died October 28, 2022, in The Waters of McMurray. She was born June 15, 1939, in Ruff Creek, a daughter of the late Clarence Wood and Mary Phillips Wood. Mrs. Thomas was part owner of Harry Thomas Truck and Trailer Repair, Exodus Construction, Arise Above Balloons, and Thomas’ Banquet Hall. In addition, she worked at The Bon Ton in human resources. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship, where she taught Sunday School, was a youth group leader, and was involved with Women’s Ministry. She graduated from Shiloh Bible Institute as a licensed minister and was ordained through the Full Gospel Assemblies, was a member of The Women’s Aglow International, and had served on the board of Washington Christian Outreach. A published author, Mrs. Thomas wrote “Challenges of an Adventure Seeker.” On August 4, 1957, she married Harry Edward Thomas, Jr., who died May 11, 2012. Surviving are three children, Louella Ann (Don) Kuhn of Claysville, Edward Ray (Karen) Thomas of Washington, and Dale Sherman (Stacy) Thomas of Washington; a brother, Allen (Joey) Wood of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Helen Hackney of Parma Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Bethany Thomas, Shana (Christopher) Sckena, Alyssa Kuhn, Jake Thomas, Dylan Thomas, Jessica (Ted) Wingertsahn, Brianna (Justin) Bendik, and Trevor Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Rudy Sckena, Jett Sckena, Ellie Sckena, Vivian Bendik, Eli Wingertsahn, Violet Bendik, and Clay Wingertsahn; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter who died in infancy; a sister, Betty Matthews; and four brothers, Donald, Robert, Ronald, and Leroy Wood. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 2nd, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 3rd, in Trinity Bible Fellowship, 1350 Park Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Dr. Michael Roach officiating.
